The Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera has reported that, in the first two weeks of vaccination without prior appointment, 3,883 doses have already been administered against influenza and Covid-19. The campaign, which will remain active until December 22, seeks to improve vaccination coverage against these respiratory viruses, especially in the most vulnerable groups. The points set up on Saturdays at Can Misses Hospital, in building B, are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. to facilitate access without prior appointment. In addition, specific consultations have been arranged in the health centers of the Pitiusas, with schedules adapted to serve users during the week. These measures allow residents to get vaccinated at extended hours and without the need to plan an appointment.
Vaccination booster to protect the most vulnerable
The main objective of this initiative is to protect the most vulnerable population, including people over 60 years of age, pregnant women, patients with chronic diseases, healthcare personnel, and essential service workers, among other priority groups. According to the Health Department, the immediate availability of appointments and the opening of multiple vaccination points are intended to minimize barriers and make it easier for more people to access this essential protection. Catalina Serra, Infection Control Nurse at the Health Department, emphasized that “the wide coverage and ease of access are key to reaching priority groups, which reinforces the prevention of serious complications associated with these diseases”.
Walk-in vaccination at health centers
In addition to the Can Misses Hospital, the campaign has walk-in vaccination points at all health centers in Ibiza and Formentera. The specific schedules are available on the official website of the Balearic Government, where users can consult the time slots and plan their visit.
