A tragic traffic accident in the town of Mahón (Menorca) has left six people dead, including four minors, after violently impacting the vehicle in which they were traveling, a Kia Creed, against a wall after hitting the traffic circle access to Avenida Europa, in the Industrial Estate of Mahón, from the road linking the airport with the main road, probably as a result of speeding. The incident took place this Saturday, at 19:54 hours, as reported by SAMU 061. The number of occupants of the vehicle exceeded the capacity of the vehicle.
Accident details
Several witnesses alerted the emergency services after observing an overturned vehicle, without the involvement of other cars. The services activated included one Advanced Life Support ambulance, two Basic Life Support ambulances, as well as the Guardia Civil and the fire department. Upon arrival, the units confirmed the death of the occupants after extrication.
Victims
Among the deceased was a 56 year-old man, driver of the vehicle and resident of Menorca, who was the father of a 16 year-old girl who also lost her life. In addition, the co-driver, a 46-year-old woman, mother of three minors traveling in the car, two nine-year-old boys and an 11-year-old girl, died. All of them died at the scene of the accident. According to Efe, none of the occupants were wearing seat belts.
