Since mid-November Sant Antoni de Portmany is developing in the patron saint festivities of Forada 2024, and the program continues this weekend.
On Sunday December 1 will be held the mass and tribute in honor of the elders of Buscastell. In addition, at 11 am will host one of the typical activities of the festivities of Forada, the nineteenth edition of the Mostra Folkloric Arrels Viveswith performances by Sa Colla de Buscastell and the Asociación cultural de coto y danzas El Trigal Cascón de Torresandino, Burgos.
On Thursday, December 5 at 7 pm you can attend the conference ‘Buscastell, from Girona to Eivissa’ by Enric Ribes, philologist expert in toponymy. On Friday 6th at at 10 a.m. a boat trip and lunch is organized at the bar Es Cruce, for which you must sign up before December 1 (629 644 643).
December 8, the big day
The big day of the patron saint’s festivitieson December 8, will begin at 12 noon with the traditional acts of the mass, followed by procession and ball pagès. In the afternoon, the activities continue at the social center with the show ‘Can Consistori’ by the Grup de Teatre des Cubells, a popular chocolate and, from 7 p.m. onwards, with the concert of the pitiuso folk group Aires Formenterencs. Finally, on Sunday December 15 will be held the walk to the Broll de Buscastell and Monday December 23 the ‘Concurs de salsa de Nadal i bescuit’. Festivities of Forada, the “most traditional” of Sant Antoni
Councilman Miguel Tur stressed during the presentation of the 2024 edition that “these festivities are the most traditional as they cling to the Ibizan culture and the rural world while also keeping in mind the family, the artistic and sport”.
In turn, Councilwoman Pepita Torres commented that “it is a program that bets on the traditions giving continuity to initiatives that have worked in previous editions supporting the culture of Forada”. She also highlighted the efforts of the Buscastell Neighborhood Association, thanking them for their time and effort in creating such a diverse and complete program.
For his part, Pepe Colomar, member of the Association of Neighbors of Buscastell, has detailed the program of activities and remarked that “the conference ‘Buscastell, from Girona to Eivissa’ is very interesting as it can somehow uncover links between a region of Girona and Buscastell”.
He also stressed that “all activities take place in the tent located in the social center of Forada”.
From the association have invited the neighbors and the entire population of the island to participate in these festivities and to know the traditions in a festive way and fent poble.
