The Balearic Islands concentrate seven of the ten Spanish municipalities in which families should spend more of their income to pay an average mortgage on a two-bedroom home, with percentages above 60% of disposable income. These are some of the conclusions drawn from the data analyzed by the real estate portal Idealista, which has pointed out that the average income per household, the price of housing and the cost of financing are the variables that determine the effort that a family must make to access the purchase of a home, in addition to providing the necessary savings. Thus, Andratx would be the town in Spain with the highest rate of effort with 91%, followed by Santa Eulària –with 78%– and Calvià –with 74%–. The top five places are completed by Ibiza — 70% — and Sóller — 64% –. Next come the Malaga municipalities of Benahavís and Marbella –with 62%– and then Moraira, in Alicante –with 61%–. The last two positions of the ranking of the ten with greater effort are closed by Campos and Santanyí with 60%. On the contrary, the Balearic locality in which less income has to be destined to the payment of the average mortgage is Inca, with 28%. In Spain as a whole, the most economical locations to pay the mortgage are Aller, Puertollano and Tortosa -with 6% each-.
