This period, which began on Sunday, September 22 and will last until December 21, offers a unique climate that combines warm temperatures and the possibility of enjoying sunny days in the middle of autumn. The season invites both residents and visitors to discover a quieter Ibiza, ideal for exploring its landscapes and taking advantage of outdoor activities.
Ibiza Autumn Weather: Forecast for 2024
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has indicated that this autumn will be warmer than usual in Ibiza and Formentera, although rainfall will be at normal levels. In this quarter, it is expected to fall around 180 liters per square meter (l/mĀ²) in Ibiza and 130 l/mĀ² in Formentera, typical values for this time of the year. The summer, meanwhile, has left a significant mark on the climate of the Pitiusas. With average temperatures of 25.4 degrees in Ibiza and 25.8 degrees in Formentera, and heat waves that reached peaks of up to 39.2 degrees in Sant Antoni, the summer season was warmer than usual. In addition, there was a notable increase in tropical nights, with 67 recorded in Ibiza (20% more than normal) and 70 in Formentera, of which 14 were torrid. As for rainfall, Ibiza experienced a rainy summer with 73 % more rainfall than usual, while Formentera experienced drier conditions, with a deficit of 44 % compared to normal values. Storms associated with phenomena such as the Isolated High Level Depression (DANA) left shocking images, with wind gusts reaching 89 km/h at Ibiza Airport and estimated values between 100 and 120 km/h in Formentera.
Beaches and sea
Despite being autumn, the beaches of Ibiza maintain their attractiveness thanks to a sea with temperatures around 22 degrees. This warm weather makes the island an ideal destination to extend summer activities such as snorkeling, paddle surfing and kayaking.
