The plenary session of the Sant Antoni Town Council has given the initial green light to two modifications to the General Urban Development Plan (PGOU) of the municipality. These updates seek to adjust urban planning to current needs, while addressing other measures related to mobility and social commitments.
Changes in the PGOU to improve urban functionality
The first approved modification affects article 248 of the PGOU, which regulates the conditions for building and use in open spaces. The change will allow, if necessary, the installation of public services such as toilets, municipal information offices or small bars, without increasing the buildability of these areas. In addition, it enables the possibility of allocating parts of land larger than one thousand square meters for surface parking. The Councilor for Urban Planning, Eva Prats, explained that this measure seeks to “adapt the planning to the new needs and make the green areas of the municipality more functional”. The second modification includes the suppression of the ASU 36/02 in Sant Rafel, which is now classified as rustic land of general regime. According to the City Council, this area, as it does not meet the requirements for urban classification, does not require development, since the nucleus already has a nearby sports facility.
Mobility and social welfare agreements
During the session, initiatives to improve accessibility in the municipality were also approved. Among them, the reservation of parking spaces in front of pharmacies and the guarantee of spaces for people with reduced mobility. Also, the political groups agreed to urge the Consell d’Eivissa to create an island crematorium for pets, a project that would have the collaboration of all the municipalities of the island. In the social sphere, a motion was presented on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The proposal, supported by all groups except VOX, reaffirms the municipal commitment to the fight against gender violence and promotes awareness and education in equality, especially among young people and adolescents.
Changes in the socialist group in the plenary
The plenary session was also notable for the movements within the PSOE political group, following the announcement of the resignation of Councilwoman María Luisa Millán and the early resignations of Patricia Hernández and Carlos Ferrer, next on the electoral list. These changes open a process of reconfiguration in the socialist representation within the City Council. With these decisions, the City Council of Sant Antoni seeks to advance in urban management and in the promotion of initiatives that strengthen the welfare and coexistence in the municipality, addressing both structural and social needs.
