The Consell de Ibiza has warned this Friday about a scam attempt that has been spread through a Facebook account called Abono transporte pĆŗblico Ibiza. This fraudulent profile promises users free transportation on the island for six months, directing them to an unofficial link that could compromise their digital security. From the Conselleria de Movilidad they have pointed out that this modality of cybercrime “goes viral quickly”, using attractive lures such as free transport to capture victims. The administration has stressed that the link provided contains false information and is not linked to any official source.
How to protect yourself from this cybercrime
The Consell has reminded that any official communication about public transport in Ibiza is made only through its official channels. In addition, they have called on citizens not to access suspicious links or share publications of dubious origin. The island administration has urged citizens to report any fraud attempt related to public services. To do so, they recommend contacting the competent authorities and not to fall into this type of scams, which could compromise personal and financial data.
