The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Ćscar Puente, has denied an expansion of the Port of La Savina in Formentera, during the Senate Transport Committee, following the question posed by the senator for Formentera and Ibiza, Juanjo Ferrer.“An extension of the Port of La Savina is not foreseen, if there is an action for an amount of 2.3 million reinforcements of the outer dock“, has answered the Minister of Transport to Ferrer, who slips this possibility as a result of a political rumor. On the other hand, Puente has remarked that “the Ministry of Transport is present” constantly in the Balearic Islands and has detailed:“928 million of investment since 2018, 80% more than the immediately previous period. We have done concrete things, financing of the first streetcar in Palma. They want it to replace the streetcar with electric buses, 128 million euros, and we are assessing it. In Ibiza, for the intercity bus we are investing 3.5 million in digitalization of stops.”
Expansion discarded
In the same sense, the president of the Consell Insular de Formentera, LlorenƧ CĆ³rdobahas previously made it clear that he is against the expansion of the port and that he was only presented with the idea by a businessman, which has no chance of succeeding. CĆ³rdoba has argued that from Sa UniĆ³ at first raised that “I had to leave this position because I had not expressed myself on the expansion of the port, something that is totally false, as I have actively and passively expressed myself against an expansion of the port. The only argument they put forward is that they do not know the idea that was presented to me and the other candidates for the presidency of the Consell by a businessman, and that seems to be the only thing that bothers them”. As far as La Voz de Ibiza has been able to reconstruct, apparently, there are two businessmen behind an eventual enlargement of La Savina. The first is Alberto Pedraza, of Ports and Sustainable Coasts, and the second of Marina Formentera, Angel Bustos, who has taken two kiosks in the questioned bidding competition.
