There is no debate on the expansion of the port of La Savina. First because it is not contemplated in the Delimitation of Spaces and Port Uses (DEUP) in force and, therefore, neither in the Special Plan in force and second because there is no official proposal in this regard. This issue has crept in the last few weeks as one more part of the endless political crisis that the southern Pitiusa has been experiencing since the end of November. In fact, there is no real element to justify it. In case there was any doubt, the Port Authority has clarified what was an open secret: there is no expansion project in progress. Neither that of Alberto Pedraza’s Ports and Coasts. Nor that of another businessman to whom Cordoba alluded and who would be related to the businessman Angel Bustos who, however, has denied to Diario de Ibiza having anything to do with it. “We have never presented any project either informally or officially, and whoever says that is lying. I have never presented any project to expand the port of La Savina,” he said. The Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) has confirmed that, after an initial review of its registry, there is no record of any recent initiative for the expansion of the port of La Savina and has clarified that “the expansion” of the port area of Formentera is not contemplated.

In his statements, Cordoba urged Sa Unió to make their position clear: “I think it would be very convenient that Sa Unió make it clear that they are also against these projects and not only the one that was presented to the candidates by a businessman before the elections”. The one who has not been slow to respond has been the spokesman of Sa Unió, Óscar Portas. He has denied any knowledge of plans to expand the port. “It is surreal, he behaves like a little child, he reacts like a child resorting to ‘and you more’ when you catch him doing something,” Portas declared. He also questioned the validity of Cordoba’s claims: “What projects is he talking about, did he suddenly find them in a drawer? But since he doesn’t say anything or explain it either? I don’t know,” he lamented. On this, he suggested that Cordoba is using a recurring tactic of deflecting attention when he is accused of something: “Since December, when the government crisis broke out in the Consell, he has been using this tactic.”
