The Guardia Civil has arrested a 24-year-old woman of South American origin as the alleged perpetrator of a theft crime, after the theft of two high-end watches from a house in Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, where she worked as a domestic employee. The incident occurred last December 7, when the owner of the watches discovered her absence and went to the Civil Guard of Sant Josep to file a complaint. According to what he declared, he suspected his employee, since she was the only one with access to the house and he knew that she was planning to leave the island that same day.
Detention at the airport
After receiving the complaint, the agents contacted the Guardia Civil staff at Ibiza airport to prevent the woman from escaping with the stolen items. Discreet surveillance was organized in both public and restricted areas of the airport.
The suspect was located at a check-in counter and, after being identified, the agents inspected her belongings in a reserved area. During the search, they found one of the stolen watches, valued at 11,500 euros, in her suitcase.
Consequences of theft
The woman was arrested at the same time and taken to the police station on suspicion of theft. The recovered watch was returned to its rightful owner. Although one of the watches was recovered, the Guardia Civil continues investigations to locate the second stolen object.
