On any given day in Santa Eulària became an unforgettable experience for three local police officers, who responded to an unexpected emergency and ended up bringing a new life into the world.
The call came early, at 7:33 a.m. on December 10. A woman in labor needed urgent assistance in a building in the municipality. When the officers arrived at the scene, the situation was critical: the 061 unit had not yet arrived, and one person on the scene was following the instructions of the medical personnel over the phone to try to assist the woman in labor.
The rapid intervention that made the difference
Inside the doorway, the police officers found the woman with part of the baby already visible, but the delivery was not progressing due to a complicated position of the baby. One of the officers, with determination and following his instinct, performed a maneuver that allowed the baby to be born without complications. It was a tense moment, but finally the newborn arrived safely into the world.
Arrival of medical services
Minutes later, the 061 paramedics were on the scene. They cut the umbilical cord and transferred both mother and baby to Can Misses hospital, where both were under observation and confirmed to be in good health.
The role of the officers in this case not only reflects their ability to act in critical situations, but also the commitment and humanity they show in their daily work. This delivery, which began as an emergency, ended up being an indelible memory for the Local Police of Santa Eulària and, undoubtedly, for the family of this newborn.
