The City Council of Sant Antoni has announced a special security operation for the Christmas holidays, which will run from December 13 to January 12. This plan seeks to ensure order and tranquility in a period where the streets of the municipality are filled with life, activities and visitors, facing the increase in commercial activity and public events.
More agents on the streets and strategic controls
The Councilor for Citizen Security, Neus Mateu, stressed that police presence will be increased in key areas to ensure safety and traffic flow, as well as to monitor large concentrations of people during the festivities.
According to the head of the Local Police, Alejandro Ponce, the device will include controls at strategic points ranging from vehicles to bicycles and scooters. In addition, there will be foot patrols to monitor areas of great affluence, such as markets and musical events.
Civil Protection and measures for children
The operation will be supported by the Civil Protection Group of Sant Antoni, which will be responsible for preventive tasks and assistance in major events such as the Three Kings Parade. One of the most innovative aspects of this plan is the distribution of identification bracelets for children, a measure that seeks to expedite the location of children in case they get lost during the celebrations. These bracelets include the child’s name, a contact number and the telephone number of the Local Police, offering a simple but effective solution to avoid moments of anxiety at crowded events. According to Mateu, “with these bracelets we want families to enjoy the festivities with peace of mind, knowing that their children will be safe”. The wristbands will be available at strategic points such as the Local Police offices, the Town Hall and the Mercat de Nadal, and will also be distributed by Civil Protection volunteers during Christmas events.
