The president of the Government, Marga Prohens, has delivered to the Federation of Local Entities of the Balearic Islands (Felib) a check for one million euros for the victims of the hurricane of October 29th in the Valencian Community.
The Government has taken into account the serious consequences of the natural catastrophe, which has left 223 confirmed fatalities in the Valencian Community and affected thousands of citizens in 75 different municipalities, as well as the infrastructures of this community. The Balearic Executive considers that it was essential to address the provision of funds so that the social services of this community have the necessary resources to deal with the dramatic situation. It does so through Felib, since the Federation immediately contacted the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP), which is the one who channels the aid and donations. It will be through this channel that the subsidy from the Regional Ministry of Families and Social Affairs will reach the organizations working in the affected areas.
A “before and after”.
Prohens has remarked that this “terrible episode has marked a before and after for everyone” so the Government reiterates its support to all Valencians. “From the first day, the Government made available to the Generalitat Valenciana human and technical material in response to the initial demands of the affected community,” said the president. The president of the Felib, Jaume Ferriol, as well as representatives of the Regional House of Valencia in the Balearic Islands and the Falla del Toro were present at the event. The president thanked once again the work and collaboration of all the members of the different emergency corps that moved to the most affected areas, as well as the citizens of the community who were involved in the collection of material. With this delivery, “the Government meets the commitment of Prohens”, who in November announced that the Balearic Islands would respond with the solidarity that characterizes it, and that is being demonstrated daily with donations and humanitarian actions that citizens and organizations from the four islands are allocating to the victims of the DANA in the Valencian Community.
