The City Council of Sant Antoni has completed the adaptation of seven intelligent pedestrian crossings at strategic points in the town center. These crosswalks have light signaling systems and warning devices that are activated by the presence of pedestrians. They are also equipped with cameras to detect pedestrians, monitor the area and quantify the flow of people.
According to the Councilor for Citizen Safety and Public Works, Neus Mateu, the installation of these crosswalks “provides greater visibility both day and night, thanks to its dynamic luminous elements, improving safety in areas with high traffic density or poor visibility”. The project, which required an investment of 48,398.79 euros, included small adaptation works such as trenching, installation of wiring, replacement of asphalt and placement of road signaling devices.
