In the evening hours of Thursday, December 26th, moments of tension were experienced in the center of Ibiza, when a man threatened to take his own life by throwing himself from the roof of one of the buildings of the old school of sa Bodega, near the Mercat Nou. The protagonist of this incident, a middle-aged man, is a user of the first aid center that operates in the facilities of the old school. According to PeriĆ³dico de Ibiza’s sources, he had already been involved in similar situations in the past, but this time he climbed onto the roof of the building and, visibly upset, expressed his intention to take his own life.
National Police officers deployed an operation to manage the crisis. With a dialogue-focused approach, they were able to convince the man to abandon his intention. The quick and professional action of the officers prevented the situation from ending in tragedy. .
Transfer to hospital and medical care
After descending from the roof, the man was taken to Can Misses Hospital for medical attention. In addition to the superficial wounds that would have been inflicted with a blade, the medical staff will be responsible for assessing his emotional and psychological state to ensure proper treatment. The operation involved agents of the Local Police of Vila and Civil Protection volunteers, who collaborated to secure the area and manage the transit of people in the surrounding area. This joint action demonstrates the importance of coordination between the different emergency bodies in critical situations.
