The Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera concludes 2024 with a historic investment of 5.1 million euros in technological and infrastructure renovation, according to data provided by the area’s Purchasing and Engineering Service. This effort places the Pitiusan health system in an advanced position to respond to the needs of patients, with state-of-the-art equipment and significant improvements in its facilities.

Innovation in diagnostics and medical technology

Among the main acquisitions are two robotized conventional radiology rooms, which allow for greater precision and speed in the studies, with an investment of 580,000 euros.

In addition, eleven state-of-the-art ultrasound scanners have been incorporated, offering 4D images for more detailed diagnoses, and a surgical arch for vascular surgery, completing an investment in diagnostic imaging of more than one million euros. The Pediatrics area has also received improvements with a brain function monitor valued at more than 40,000 euros, while services such as Otorhinolaryngology and Surgery now have three endoscopy towers, at a cost of more than 200,000 euros.

Reinforcement of infrastructure and Primary Care

The renovation has not been limited to medical technology. The Formentera Hospital has improved its air conditioning system, an investment of 400,000 euros that guarantees optimal conditions for patients and staff. In addition, two vehicles have been acquired for home care, aimed at strengthening primary care services in the region. The hospitalization and intensive care areas have been upgraded with specialized beds and transfer beds, for which 126,000 euros have been invested, improving comfort and care for hospitalized patients. Biomedical engineer Marta Suárez stressed that this year’s investment has enabled a qualitative leap in medical technology. “Advances in robotic radiology and ultrasound put us at a level comparable to that of the best reference hospitals. This has a direct impact on the quality of diagnosis and patient experience,” she said.
