A country style house, located in the Buscastell area of Sant Antoni in Sant Antoniwas completely burned this morning after an arson that led to the arrest of a man as the alleged perpetrator. The incident, which began shortly after 9:00 am, mobilized firefighters, local police and emergency personnel, who worked intensively to control the situation. The two-story house suffered catastrophic damage.The second floor was completely destroyed by the fire, while the second floor collapsed due to the virulence of the flames. According to sources from the Parque Insular de Bomberos, the characteristics of the fire and the rapidity of its spread suggest that it was arson.
The occupants of the house managed to get out on their own before the flames consumed the structure. Fortunately, there were no injuries, as reported by Radio Ibiza.
A neighbor gave the initial alert
The alert was sent to 112 by a neighbor, who reported a fire in a wooded area. However, on arrival at the scene, it was found that the fire was affecting the house. Firefighters were on the scene for more than five hours, working to completely extinguish the flames and ensure that there were no active outbreaks that could rekindle the fire.
Arrest of the alleged perpetrator
The Local Police of Sant Antoni arrested the alleged perpetrator of the fire at the same place of the incident. In addition to the crime of arson, the detainee is accused of an attempt against authority, although the details of the latter charge have not been disclosed.
