This Saturday afternoon, the authorities of Ibiza have intervened again in a suicide attempt by the same man who last Thursday threatened to throw himself from a building of the old school of sa Bodega, near the Mercat Nou. On this occasion, the man climbed again to the roof, generating another situation of extreme tension in the center of the city.
Repetition of an alarming episode
The incident began around 6:00 p.m., when the man, a user of the first aid center that operates in the building, climbed back onto the roof, visibly upset. As had happened days before, he expressed his intention to take his own life. According to police sources, the individual has already been involved in several similar situations in the past.
Given the seriousness of the situation, a joint operation between the Ibiza Fire Department, Local Police, National Police and SAMU 061 was quickly deployed. In the first intervention, the firefighters managed to lower him using a ladder. However, hours later, the man again gained access to the roof, although this time he decided to descend on his own after intense mediation by the officers.
Effective coordination to avoid a tragedy
The quick action of the emergency services prevented a fatal outcome for the second time in 48 hours. In addition to managing the safety of the place and the man, they ensured safe traffic in the area for neighbors and passers-by. After the descent, the individual was taken back to Can Misses Hospital for medical and psychological care. According to reports, medical personnel are evaluating his emotional state to determine the next steps in his treatment.
