The Sant Antoni de Portmany Health Center will have a conventional radiology room in 2025, thanks to an investment of 232,320 euros that will improve diagnostic services for the nearly 30,000 users of the center.
The Pitiusas Health Area has announced that the equipment will be installed during the first quarter of the year. Although the room has been ready for use since 2010, it will be in 2025 when it will be put into operation progressively. According to estimates, this new infrastructure will avoid up to 4,000 annual referrals to Can Misses Hospital, which currently handles most of the X-rays requested by patients from Sant Antoni.
Improved local health care
The new room will not only relieve the workload of the Radiodiagnosis Service of the Can Misses Hospital, but will also benefit the center’s Primary Care Emergency Service, providing it with a key diagnostic tool. For the medical coordinator of the center, Dr. José González, this addition “will bring care closer to thousands of residents of the municipality and reduce waiting lists in the Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera”.
Progressive use and improvements in circuits
The implementation of the Radiology room will be gradual, with specific circuits for scheduled and urgent activity. This planning ensures an effective integration of the new services without interruptions in the daily care of the center. At present, the Sant Antoni de Portmany Health Center manages 29,919 health cards and it is expected that this new technological equipment will significantly improve the efficiency and health resources of the island.
