The 47th Court of First Instance of Barcelona has rejected Futbol Club Barcelona ‘s request to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor in LaLiga for the second part of the season, according to a resolution consulted on Monday. This decision follows the line of a previous ruling last Friday issued by the Mercantile Court number 10 of Barcelona. The situation arises due to LaLiga’s Financial Fair Play, which prevents Barça from registering Olmo following the long-term absence of Andreas Christensen. Although the player was registered for the first half of the season, his continuity was paralyzed by the judge due to the club’s economic limitations. In an attempt to counter this measure, Barça filed a lawsuit against LaLiga’s Budgeting Regulations (NEP), arguing that the regulations should allow players to be registered based on the salary released by long-term injuries. The judge, however, dismissed the petition and considered the €5,000 bond offered by the club to respond to possible damages as “derisory”.
Barça can appeal
According to the ruling, the Catalan club has the option of appealing to the Barcelona Provincial Court, although the judge criticized Barça’s “repeated judicialization” of the established registration deadlines. The reality is that the club has until midnight tonight to register the two first team players.
