Just 52 minutes into the new year, Ibiza has become the scene of a news full of hope: the first baby of the Balearic Islands in 2025 was born at Can Misses Hospital. Dylan Luis, weighing 4 kilograms, came into the world by caesarean section, marking a beginning full of hope for his parents and the community of Ibiza and Formentera.
A medical team of excellence
The birth was attended by an outstanding medical team from the Ibiza and Formentera Health Area, made up of gynecologists Yanira RodrĆguez and Raquel GascĆ³n, Obstetrics MIR Mikele Mannion and anesthesiologist Leticia Villaverde.
The parents, Nancy Soledad Morel Castillo, originally from Paraguay, and Eduardo ValdĆ©s, from the Dominican Republic, did not hide their excitement at the arrival of their son at such a special time of the year. “It is a blessing to begin 2025 with this gift,” they expressed with emotion.
Leonardo Emmanuel, the last baby of 2024
While Dylan Luis opened the calendar for the new year, Ibiza also witnessed the last birth of 2024. At 22:46 on December 31, Leonardo Emmanuel came into the world weighing 2,480 grams. His birth, a normal delivery assisted by midwife Abigail PerpiĆ±Ć GandĆa, was described as “the perfect end to an unforgettable year” by his parents, Pablo Granados and Charlotte Lecumberri Astruc, both residents of the island.
A beginning and a closing at Can Misses Hospital
The Ibiza and Formentera Health Area celebrated both births as a reminder of the cycle of life that does not stop, even on such significant dates. Dylan Luis and Leonardo Emmanuel not only symbolize new beginnings and endings, but are also a reflection of the professional and committed care that characterizes Can Misses Hospital.
