Two of the most anticipated races of the insular calendar have already sold out all their bibs for its fifth edition. These are the 5K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa, scheduled for January 12, and the 10K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa, to be held on February 9.
Despite being held in low season, both races have managed to sell out in record time. The 5,000-meter race will have half a thousand participants, while the 10-kilometer race will have around a thousand runners. According to Dani Becerra, organizer of both races, “the out-and-back circuit, sharing the roadway, makes it necessary to limit participation”. However, in view of the great demand for registrations, Becerra does not rule out studying new formulas for future editions: “We will give it a twist to try to accommodate more athletes as long as we can preserve safety and people can run comfortably,” he said.
Circuits for all audiences
One of the keys to the success of the registrations lies in the layout of the circuits: both are very fast, at sea level and very appealing to both beginners and experienced runners. The sports councilor of the Sant Josep town council , Xicu Ribas, was satisfied with the great reception of the races and explained that this year “the 5K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa will start at Gamba Roja street and will run two laps around the coast, while the 10K will run along the Ses Salines road and the tourist enclave of Platja d’en Bossa”, a circumstance that he described as “a luxury for runners who usually train in this area of the municipality”. In addition, it should be recalled that the 10K Ibiza-Paltja d’en Bossa is one of the nine races declared of tourist interest by the Consell de Ibiza. The collection of the bib number with chip and T-shirt will take place on the days scheduled for each of the races at the La Sirena Shopping Center in Platja d’en Bossa.
