This January 5th, the Can Misses Hospital has witnessed a moment full of magic with the visit of Melchior, Gaspar and Baltasar. Melchior, Gaspar and Baltasarwho arrived guided by the Star of the Orient to spread illusion among the admitted patients. The day began with a special welcome at the main entrance of the hospital, where Their Majesties were welcomed by the manager of the Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera, Enrique Garcerán, the medical director of Hospital Care,
Dr. Sausan Sayed and representatives of the City Council of Ibiza, as the mayor Rafael Triguero and the councilman of Fiestas, Francisco Torres.
Emotional meeting in the ICU
One of the most touching moments took place in the Intensive Care Unit, where the Three Wise Men surprised Julia Márquez, hospitalized for more than six months. Accompanied by her husband, Julia emotionally received gifts and affection from the royal retinue, in a gesture that marked a moment of hope in her recovery.
Joy in Pediatrics and Neonatology
The caravan continued its journey to the Pediatrics and Neonatology Unit, where six children and their families were waiting. Romeo Boni, only two years old, was the oldest of the little ones who spent the eve of Epiphany in the hospital. Among the patients were also Luca, 8 days old; the twins Aws and Oussaid, 7 days old; Marian, 2 months old, and a 7-day-old unnamed newborn in the incubator. Each received age-appropriate gifts, from stuffed animals and rattles to a garage with cars for Romeo, as smiles lit up the atmosphere on such a special day.
A minimum occupation and a message of solidarity
The eve of Epiphany brought some good news to Can Misses: bed occupancy in the Pediatrics and Neonatology Unit was 25%, with only six of the 24 beds occupied, reflecting an encouraging outlook for families. On the other hand, thanks to the initiative of the Asociación Nunca Solos, the Three Wise Men also visited the hospitalization units of Internal Medicine and Traumatology, where they delivered 120 gifts for adult patients, in collaboration with the association’s volunteers.
A day to remember
The visit of the Three Wise Men to Can Misses Hospital not only filled the patients with joy, but also reinforced the connection between the Ibizan community and its institutions, bringing hope and magic on a day marked by illusion.
