From April 11 to 14, the historic Castle of Ibiza will be the setting for a unique sporting experience: the Red Bull Ibiza Royale. This first edition of the wildest and most creative obstacle course will bring together teams of two from around the world to face challenges designed by internationally renowned athletes and content creators.
Known worldwidefor its vibrant nightlife and paradisiacal beaches, the island now adds a new attraction to its offer: an obstacle course that combines sport, spectacle and creativity at the emblematic Ibiza Castle. Mixed teams of two will have to overcome challenges that will test their strength, speed, coordination and teamwork as they ascend to the top of the castle, a place steeped in history and with spectacular views of the Mediterranean. Each obstacle has been designed by renowned athletes and content creators, such as Nil Ojeda, named “Idol of the Year 2023” by the Idol Awards, and Demi Bagby, an American athlete known for her creativity and charisma. With the advice of Denmark’s Ida Mathilde Steensgaard, a world champion and expert in obstacle courses, these designers have developed unique and entertaining challenges that promise to surprise both participants and spectators.
A race open to all
The Red Bull Ibiza Royale is not exclusively for professional athletes, something Steensgaard made clear when describing the event’s inclusive approach. “It’s much more than a demanding competition. We want it to be an experience for everyone, not just the most agile or fast. Participants will be challenged in different aspects, but, above all, we want them to have fun and enjoy the course,” said the champion, known as the “queen of obstacles” for her more than a decade of experience in this type of race. Among the challenges that will mark this race is Spaghetti Boulevard designed by Nil Ojeda. Inspired by his passion for Italian food, this obstacle recreates a picturesque Italian village, with elements such as giant spaghetti, pizza rollers and tomato sauces. Participants will have to climb, jump and coordinate with their partners, as they will be tied hand and foot, making coordination a key factor in overcoming the challenge.
“I wanted my obstacle to reflect something I am passionate about, such as Italian food, and also to be fun and challenging for the participants. I hope they enjoy it as much as I enjoyed designing it,” said Ojeda.

For Steensgaard, the choice of Ibiza as the venue could not be more appropriate: “Ibiza Castle and its surroundings offer the perfect setting for an obstacle course. The elevation changes, proximity to the sea and incredible views add a unique element to this experience. It will be a race with a little bit of everything, designed for everyone to enjoy”. How to participate
The registration process for the Red Bull Ibiza Royale is now open. until March 14.
Those interested must form a mixed team of two people, complete a qualifying challenge and submit a video of less than 60 seconds explaining why they are ready to take on this adventure.
