The Government, through an Agreement of the Government Delegate Commission for Economic Affairs (CDGAE) and an Order of the Ministry of Finance, has approved the granting of regional incentives to a total of 96 projects in eleven autonomous communities. In the Balearic Islands, the amount is 8.2 million Euros for four investment projects.
Specifically, in the case of the archipelago, these four projects -twoin Ibiza and two in Menorca- have received 8.2 million euros in subsidies and represent a total investment of 40.2 million euros. More than half of this state aid will go to the refurbishment of the Beach Club Hotel Portinatx in the municipality of Sant Joan: it will receive 4,761,743 euros to convert the establishment into a five-star hotel. The former BC Club Portinatx is a neighbor of one of the benchmarks of Ibiza’s hotel industry, the Six Senses Ibiza, whose ownership changed hands this summer in a record millionaire operation in Spain. The Statuto Group, owner of the W Ibiza in Santa Eulària, paid close to 200 million euros, which means 1.7 million for each of the 116 rooms. The total investment, as stated in the Official Gazette of January 4, will be 21,644,289 euros, by the company Nomard Ibiza SL, dedicated to the promotion, construction, operation and administration or leasing of hotels, aparthotels and facilities related to the hotel industry. It is expected that 40 jobs will be generated. This is the hotel establishment managed by the firm of Shakira’s ex-partner, Antonio De la Rúa, son of a former president of Argentina.
Sales and administration
In March of last year, the Beach Club Hotel Portinatx was sold by the sold for more than 60 million euros from the Mallorcan company BG to a Spanish family with international hotel business.
As La Voz de Ibiza had advanced, the new owner had planned a complete refurbishment of the hotel to reposition it with the aim of turning it into a reference on the island. It is a resort with 243 rooms on a plot of more than 30,000 m2 in a four-star establishment that, shortly, hopes to become a five-star all-inclusive. Just two months after the sale, it has been confirmed that Nomade People in Spain will operate the hotel. The hotel management company specializing in the luxury segment was founded by Shakira’s former partner, Antonio de la Rua, who was also her business partner. Although construction began last year, the refurbishment will not be completed by next summer. It is expected to open in May 2026.

Through the file 531/2023, the City Council of Sant Joan has granted the “building permit for the execution of the reform and expansion of a hotel establishment located in C/ Camí de Sa Torre 14 (Portinatx)” through the Governing Board meeting held on March 21 last year.
In the document in possession of La Voz de Ibiza, Nomard Ibiza SL, “represented by Mr. Jordi Rodríguez-Carreño Villangómez, is granted a building permit for the execution of the Reform and Expansion of a Hotel Establishment”.
Another five star
The municipality will have another five-star establishment on the coast of Sant Joan. An investment fund, based in Madrid, is promoting the complete refurbishment of the Hotel Presidente de Cala Portinatx. Hotel Presidente in Cala Portinatx. The establishment, which has been closed for some years, has four floors and 270 rooms, which will be completely renovated to increase the hotel’s category. The renovation has been entrusted to Galöw, a prestigious national firm for healthy architecture and interior design. The owner, Hetland Invest SL, plans to invest almost 22 million euros in the renovation. For this purpose, it has a license granted by the Consell de Ibiza at the end of 2022.
