With its 240 years of history, The Guardian House is much more than a typical finca of Ibiza. Ibiza. This accommodation, located in the Santa Gertrudis area, has managed to preserve the charm of traditional Ibizan architecture while incorporating design elements that blend the vintage with the contemporary. From the moment you walk through the entrance, the atmosphere of serenity and authenticity invites you to disconnect and reconnect with the environment.
However, the great protagonist of this house is not its architectural style or its splendid landscape, but rather the horse coachinga practice based on interaction with horses to encourage introspection and personal growth.
Vera Holland, co-founder and head of this activity, explains to Condé Nast’s Traveler blog that “the horses react to your energy and behavior in a pure and non-judgmental way, helping you reflect on aspects of your life.”
The sessions, which can be individual or group sessions, do not involve riding the animal. Instead, participants interact with the horses in outdoor spaces, guided by Vera. “It’s like an emotional mirror,” says Ted Alkemade, co-founder of the project.
The farm is home to 20 horses, including Iselin, a majestic white mare that has become the soul of the place. These animals are not only therapy companions, but also a reminder of the relationship between humans and nature. “Our goal is for guests to take away more than just rest; we want to offer them a transformative experience,” Vera stresses.
Architecture with a historical soul
Ted has drawn on his experience as a videographer to curate an aesthetic that mixes rustic wood furniture , Arabic tiles and gold faucets. Vintage objects coexist with contemporary details, such as modern textiles and designer lamps. “We wanted the spaces to convey serenity and authenticity,” she explains. The result is a cozy atmosphere that respects the estate’s roots, complemented by modern comforts. From the five rooms, designed for up to 12 guests, to the common spaces, such as an outdoor kitchen surrounded by bougainvillea, everything is designed to foster connection between people and with the environment.
A refuge with a view and a purpose
From the gardens of The Guardian House you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Dalt Vila, while breathing the tranquil air of the countryside. In addition, the estate collaborates with local initiatives such as Juntos Farm, a regenerative farm that provides fresh food for breakfast. A stay at The Guardian House is not just a getaway; it is an opportunity to rediscover oneself through the calm, the horses and the unique energy of Ibiza. As Vera concludes: “Here two powers combine: that of an animal as special as the horse and the magic of the island”.
