New York City FC is financing with US$780 million the construction of the first all-electric stadium in the US, located in Queens, which will be operational in 2027. Turner, a subsidiary of Spanish construction company ACS, the company chaired by Real Madrid chairman Florentino Pérez and Spain’s largest construction company, has begun work on Etihad Park, the first stadium exclusively for professional soccer in New York. This project, valued at US$780 million (758 million euros), will be fully financed by New York City FC and will be ready for the 2027 MLS (Major League Soccer) season.
An innovative and sustainable stadium
With a capacity for 25,000 spectators in a 567,000 square meter space, Etihad Park will mark a milestone as the first all-electric stadium in the United States. Its design incorporates a roof with photovoltaic panels and a water reuse system for irrigation, standing out as a model of sustainable sports infrastructure. In addition to its sports facilities, the complex will have commercial, gastronomic and office spaces, consolidating itself as a community hub in the Queens neighborhood. Among its exclusive features, it will include 40 private suites, three VIP clubs and City Square, a plaza designed for events and meetings.
