The ALDI chain has announced that it will open five new supermarkets in the Balearic Islands, of which three will be in Mallorca and two in Ibiza. According to La Voz de Ibiza, the latter two stores will be located in Santa Eulària (where the permit is most advanced) and Sant Antoni.
ALDI, of German origin and since 2002 in the Spanish market, has communicated through social networks that during 2025 its plan is to open more than 40 new stores throughout Spain, as part of its expansion plan. In this strategy, “our consolidation in the Balearic and Canary Islands stands out, as well as the opening of new establishments in the Region of Murcia”, they said. However, it has not yet been specified when the chain’s new supermarkets will open in Ibiza. ALDI currently has more than 460 supermarkets in Spain, and more than 7,500 workers. In the Balearic Islands, there are 14 establishments and 200 employees. So far, the chain’s only supermarket in Ibiza is the one located at Avenida San Josep de sa Talaia, 13-15, which opened in April 2019 and is open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 9:30 pm. In addition to fresh food, pantry and hygiene basics, the store offers various household appliances in its brochure.
