The young Ibizan Felipe Gonzalez, only 17 years old, has been consecrated Champion of Balears 9-ball in the Pool Garage Ciutadella, in Menorca, after beating in an exciting final to the Mallorcan Xisco Barceló by a tight 7-6. This is his second title in the 2024-25 season, confirming himself as one of the great promises of billiards in the Balearic Islands.
The competition brought together the best players of the islands, highlighting a high level of play. Gonzalez beat Menorca’s David Muñoz in the semifinals, while Barceló, bronze medalist in the last European Masters Championship, eliminated Ibiza’s Angel Mezquida. Both semifinalists completed the podium with bronze medals.
With this triumph, Felipe González leads the Balearic ranking after two races, consolidating himself as the main contender to represent the islands. Together with him, the provisional places of the Balearic team are occupied by Toni Pons (Menorca), Antonio Molina (Mallorca), Borja Gutiérrez (Mallorca) and Ángel Mezquida (Ibiza). The definitive ranking and the official places to represent the Balearic Islands will be decided at the 8-ball Championship, which will take place in Mallorca on March 8 and 9, where Gonzalez will seek to revalidate his dominance.
