The port of Sant Antoni will be one of the first in the Balearic Islands to have an advanced continuous monitoring system for air quality and noise pollution. This measure, led by Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB) and the Regional Ministry of the Sea and Water Cycle, is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Next Generation EU funds.
A project with environmental impact
The contract, which also includes the port of Ciutadella in Menorca, has a total investment of 296,958 euros. Of this budget, 225,000 euros come from European MRR funds. In addition to the installation of equipment, the project includes its maintenance for the next four years. Interested parties may submit their bids until January 31, 2025 through the Public Sector Procurement Platform. The system includes six measuring stations spread between the two ports, capable of providing real-time data on air quality, noise levels and other meteorological variables. All the information will be integrated into a management platform that will enable reports to be generated, alerts to be issued and detailed analysis to be carried out.

With this project, the Government seeks to move towards a more efficient and transparent environmental management in the ports of the Balearic Islands. According to the Conselleria del Mar y Ciclo del Agua, this initiative is aligned with the commitments of the autonomous community in the fight against climate change and the improvement of sustainability in natural and urban spaces.
