The man accused of sexually abusing a friend of his ex-partner in Ibiza has accepted this Monday a fine of more than 2,200 euros, after reaching an agreement of conformity before the trial began in the First Section of the Court of Palma. Thanks to this pact, the trial, scheduled for this morning, has not been held, and the accused has avoided a sentence of two years in prison, as initially requested by the Prosecutor’s Office.
The agreement implies that the man, 35 years old, has recognized the authorship of the facts and agreed to pay a fine for 18 months at the rate of four euros per day. In addition, he has paid 700 euros to the victim as civil liability, the amount claimed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. He has also been disqualified from working with minors for two years. According to the prosecution’s indictment, the events occurred in March 2022, when the defendant entered the room where a friend of his ex-partner, with whom he lived, was sleeping. There, he touched her without her consent, which forced the woman to leave the room and move to the living room. However, the man again insisted on touching her sexually. The prosecution had initially requested a sentence of two years’ imprisonment, as well as the payment of 700 euros in compensation. With the agreement reached, the defendant has assumed the economic sanctions and other measures without entering prison.
