This Monday afternoon, a serious accident on the EI-781 road, which connects Sant Josep with the airport of Ibiza, has left five people injured after a head-on collision between two cars.
At first, the Fire Department of Ibiza had reported the death of the two drivers, something that was later denied by the Health Area. The incident occurred around 18:30 hours, at kilometer 4, about 50 meters from the turnoff to the airfield.

Later, the account on the social network X that have the Firefighters clarified: “We regret the confusion generated by an error in communication during the intervention in the accident on the road to Sant Josep. We refer to the IB-Salut for more details on this news. Although at first the information provided to us indicated the death of two women, today we have been able to confirm that both are under medical supervision. We trust in their recovery and that everything has been a misunderstanding. We apologize for the inconvenience to the users of this network and, above all, to the families of the people involved.” The head-on collision involved a Porsche Cayenne, carrying five passengers, and a Fiat Panda driven by a woman alone. Upon impact, both vehicles were thrown off, knocking down a block wall approximately six meters long. Firefighters arrived at the scene to rescue the woman from the Fiat Panda. The person who alerted the 061 emergency service of the accident was the driver of the Porsche Cayenne. The occupants of the vehicles were trapped inside and had to be rescued by the firefighters, while the Guardia Civil and the Municipal Police were in charge of regulating traffic in the area. The incident occurred at the intersection of Es Codolar, near the airport. Two ambulances of Advanced Life Support, one of Basic Life Support and another of the Policlínica Nuestra Señora del Rosario, as well as members of the Civil Guard Traffic. After the accident, one person remains in critical condition in the ICU of the Hospital Can Misses. She is a 56 year old German woman. Four other people, three slightly and one less seriously injured, were taken to the Policlínica Nuestra Señora del Rosario. All were slightly injured with polytraumatisms and were discharged: a 35 year-old Spanish woman, two Italian men aged 50 and 33 and a 40 year-old Italian woman.
