MÉS per Mallorca and PSIB have assured that they will not support the initiative to increase the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) during the summer months if a reduction of the same tax in winter is also proposed. Vox, on the other hand, will support the lowering only if it does not include an increase in high season.
This is what the spokespersons of these groups have said in the press conferences after the Board of Spokespersons, in which they have remarked that they would not approve of the Government negotiating the increase of the ITS with one group and the decrease with another.
For his part, the PP spokesman, Sebastià Sagreras, has remarked that the Government will take to the Bureau for the Pact for sustainability the proposal to raise the ITS in summer and lower it in winter. However, he insisted that the initiative that will be taken to Parliament will come out of the consensus of the Bureau. “There they are,” he said in reference to the parliamentary groups.
According to the spokesman for MÉS, Lluís Apesteguia, if it is intended to lower the ITS MÉS per Mallorca will not be part of the modification of the tax. “That of we will approve with some to raise it and with others to lower it that they stop dreaming it,” he added.
In his opinion, it is “insulting” to want to lower the ITS in the winter months since the amount is between 0.25 and one euro and the margin of reduction is “relatively small”.
On his side, the socialist spokesman, Iago Negueruela, has criticized that the Executive announced that in February would approve a decree law of measures against saturation and that “now they do not know when it will be”. “They should say now what they want to do and how they are going to approve it”, he demanded.
