The Santa Eulària Town Hall has published the tender for the drafting of the project of the future 50-meter indoor pool, an infrastructure long demanded by the sports community of the island.
The contract, valued at 301,325.57 euros (VAT included), marks the beginning of the process to make this facility a reality, which will become the first of its kind in Ibiza.
The deadline for drafting the documents is four months from the formalization of the contract, and companies interested in participating in the tender may submit their bids until March 13, 2025.
A leap in quality for sport in Ibiza
The new pool, to be built in the sports facilities of Santa Eulària, responds to a historical need of swimmers and athletes from Ibiza. Until now, those who needed to train in a 50-meter pool had to travel to Mallorca to do so in conditions comparable to national and international competitions.
“This facility will not only cover a deficit on our island, but will also be an attraction for national and international teams that want to train here in mid and low season, taking advantage of our tourist offer and the privileged climate we have all year round,” explained the Councillor for Sports, Toni Ramon.
The project will be executed in two phases to ensure that the existing pool can remain in operation for as long as possible.
A key investment for the future
The City Council of Santa Eulària has confirmed that the financing of the infrastructure will be assumed entirely through an agreement with the Consell de Ibiza, making it the first work in the municipality that is completely financed by the island’s budget.
The plan includes not only the construction of the pool, but also the demolition of existing facilities in the area and the creation of auxiliary spaces such as changing rooms, showers, toilets, rooms for coaches and referees, storage rooms and other facilities necessary for daily training and competitions.
Once the final project has been drafted, the final budget for the construction of the pool, which is expected to become a reference for water sports on the island, will be established.
