Nine robberies in less than two months
Since the beginning of the year, the city of Ibiza and the town of Santa Eulària, especially in the area of Puig d’en Valls, have suffered a spike in robberies in gyms, pizzerias, a hotel, a high school and a laundry.
The frequency and modus operandi of the crimes led the National Police to intensify investigations, with the intervention of the Specialized and Violent Crime Group (UDEV), in coordination with Citizen Security agents.
Investigations led to the identification and location of the suspects, who were arrested on February 4. According to police sources, those arrested operated with a recurrent pattern: they forced access to enter the premises and stole various objects, regardless of the type of establishment.
In some of the robberies they acted jointly, while in others they operated separately.
Placed at the disposal of the court
After their arrest, the two men were taken to the National Police Station in Ibiza and subsequently handed over to the Examining Magistrate’s Court on duty.
The investigation is still open and it is not excluded that they may be linked to other similar robberies on the island.
