Throughout the months of November and December the amateur theater of Ibiza returns to the stage with the IV Season of Amateur Theater Pedro Cañestro, an opportunity for amateur performing arts companies to showcase their work. This event, promoted by the Department of Culture, Education and Heritage of the Consell de Ibiza, has the collaboration of the municipalities of Santa Eulària, San José, San Antonio and San Juan, as performances are held in different cultural spaces in these municipalities. This edition has the participation of six companies that represent original works, with all performances at 8 pm.
Programming of the IV Season of Amateur Theater in Ibiza
Thus, the Tot Teatre Company, L’Experimental, will perform on Saturday, November 9 at the Caló de s’Oli Auditorium the play‘Mujeres sin voz‘ directed by Nadia Banegas, based on the novel Elles hablan by Miremos Toews. The Theater Group Asociación de Vecinos Es Molí represents the comedy‘Una madre arreveixinada‘ written and directed by Vicent Serra, in three performances: Sunday, November 3 at the Auditorium of Cas Serres, Sunday, November 17 at the Cervantes Cultural Center of Sant Antoni, and Friday, November 29 at the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall of Sant Joan. For its part, the Theater Group of the Institute of Ibizan Studies will perform Bernat Joan’s play ‘Lotsogabe’ about mental illness. It will take place on Friday, November 15th at the Centro Cultural de Jesús, and on Saturday, November 23rd at the Caló de s’Oli Auditorium.
The Association of Teatro Attípico participates with the play ‘My sister and I’ a comedy about two sisters in the seventies. It will be performed on Sunday, December 1 at the Cas Serres Auditorium and on Sunday, December 15 at the Cervantes Cultural Center. The Pedro Cañestro Theater Company will stage Bernat Joan’s play ‘Lilit y Xekinà’ directed by Àngels Martinez, on Friday, December 20 at the Cas Serres Auditorium. Finally, the Grupo de teatro Vaporustedes Ibiza will perform the play ‘VPU: Una obra con mucho sentido’, an adaptation by Olga Ojo of ‘Los 5 sentidos de Chaikovsky’, in two performances: the first on Friday, December 13th at the Sala de Plenos del Ayuntamiento de Sant Joan, and the second on Sunday, December 22nd at the Teatro España in Santa Eulària. Tickets are already on sale online through the website eivissacultural.es or conselldeivissa.es. The price is 8 euros in advance, 12 euros at the box office. Those interested also have subscriptions available: for two shows at 11.20 euros, 5 shows 26 euros and 7 or more shows, 4.60 euros per show. In addition, to be able to attend the different shows that take place in the Auditorium of the Sociocultural Center of Cas Serres, without having to use the private vehicle or having to look for parking, there are two bus lines that leave right at the edge of the Auditorium: line L45 and line L45B.
