On November 16 and 22 will take place in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu two concerts organized to celebrate Santa Cecilia, patron saint of musicians, which is commemorated precisely on the latter date. In both cases, the two recitals are free, although they will also seek to collect aid for those affected by the DANA. The first of the two appointments is on Saturday, starting at 7:30 pm, at the Palacio de Congresos de Ibiza. It is organized by the Escola Municipal de Música and the Banda Municipal de Música. In this case, both entities want to remember that, once it has been possible to resume some normality in the affected localities, it will be important to support the musical societies of these populations, great social dynamizers, who have lost rehearsal rooms and instruments. Therefore, donations are requested to be made to the account of the Federació de Societats Musicals de la Comunitat Valencia, which groups this type of cultural entities. The account number to donate is ES45 3159 0078 5630 4840 6023. As for the presentation, admission is free until full capacity and will feature in addition to the Municipal Band, with the Youth Band of l’Escola Municipal de Música. The student band, under the direction of Francisco Martínez, will perform pieces such as ‘The Nutcracker’, by Tchaikovsky; ‘The Planets’, by Holst; ‘The Pink Panther’, by Henry Mancini; and ‘The Oregon Trail’, by Story. Meanwhile, the Municipal Band with Frank Cogollos at the baton will offer ‘Rafael, Paco i José Antonio’, by Ferrer Ferran; ‘Fate of Gods’, by Steven Reineke; and ‘Lexicon of the Gods’, by Rossano Galante. As a grand finale, both ensembles will perform the famous ‘Oh happy Day!’ by Edwin Hawkins.
The second of the concerts is organized by the Cor des Puig d’en Valls and will take place on Friday next week, starting at 8 pm, in the church of es Puig d’en Valls. The recital, which has the support of the Comissió de Festes des Puig d’en Valls and the City Council of Santa Eulària des Riu, will be free but voluntary donations will be collected for those affected by the DANA. The performance ‘Cançons viscudes’ will be directed by Lina Veny and the collaboration of Juanjo Díaz on the piano.
