The growing problem of pirate cabs in Ibiza has generated great concern among legal drivers and local authorities, but now the situation has taken an unexpected turn with the denunciation of the complicity of an Ibiza airport security employee, accused of collaborating with these illegal services.
The cab drivers group Elite Corsaris, known for its activism against pirate cabs on the island, has disseminated on social networks a video in which they claim that one of the airport security guards, an employee of the company Trablisa, is facilitating the activity of illegal drivers.
According to the public complaint made through TikTok, this guard has been allowing pirate cabs to park in reserved areas, such as spaces for people with reduced mobility or electric vehicles, for at least two years without any type of control or sanction.
In the images, the cab drivers claim that the guard “lifts the barrier” without them passing through the cashier, a clear indication of preferential treatment for illegal cabs.

Collaboration in full view

In the video released by Elite Corsaris, it can be seen how pirate cabs park irregularly in the airport parking lot, while the security guard, who should be controlling the area, seems to ignore the infractions.
“We do not understand how Aena and Trablisa allow this person to continue working at Ibiza airport. It’s more than two years seeing how he collaborates with the pirates, lifting the barrier without paying and letting them park in prohibited areas,” the cab drivers’ group assures in its publication.
But that is not all.
The cab drivers also claim to have witnessed this security employee having friendly conversations with the pirate drivers, and although they have no video evidence, they suggest that he has received “certain favors” from these drivers on several occasions.

Lack of action by the authorities

The complaint is not new.
According to Elite Corsaris, this situation has already been reported to the Consell de Ibiza, which at the time led to the guard being temporarily removed from his post.
However, and to the surprise of the cab drivers, the employee has returned to his duties, and no official response has been issued from Aena about the actions taken to resolve the problem.
“They put him aside, but now he has returned to his place as if nothing had happened. Aena still does not give an explanation, and meanwhile, pirate cabs continue to operate with total freedom,” they denounce.
The problem of pirate cabs on the island has been the cause of constant complaints by legal drivers, who claim that these illegal services not only compete unfairly, but also represent a risk to the safety of users and to tourism in general.
According to cab drivers, the fact that a security employee at the airport, a key place for tourist arrivals, is allegedly facilitating these activities, further aggravates the situation.
