The electronic music world is in mourning following news of the passing of Jack Revill, known as Jackmaster, one of the most influential and beloved DJs in the global nightclub and festival scene. At the age of 38, Jackmaster passed away in Ibiza due to “complications related to an accidental head injury,” his family confirmed in a statement Sunday. Jackmaster, originally from Glasgow, forged a solid career from his early days working in a record store to becoming one of the most in-demand DJs worldwide. His unique style led him to play at some of the most emblematic temples of electronic music such as Fabric, Circo Loco at DC10, Berghain, Trouw, among others, as well as at renowned festivals around the globe. During his career, Jackmaster received numerous awards, including the Breakthrough DJ Award at DJ Mag’s Best Of British Awards in 2010 and the award for Best UK DJ in 2014, cementing his place as a leading and revolutionary figure in dance music.
In their statement, Jackmaster’s family said, “We are completely devastated by your loss. We are grateful for the support of friends, colleagues and fans, but ask for privacy as we navigate this immense grief.” The text also highlighted his passion for music and his tireless creative work at labels such as Numbers and Rubadub Records, where he discovered and promoted innovative artists. Jackmaster’s legacy lies not only in his ability to mix genres and create electrifying sets, but also in his impact both on and off stage, which made him a pivotal figure in the electronic music community.
