The Local Police of Sant Antoni has concluded its Security Plan Summer 2024 with a total of 5,301 reports, the result of the operations designed to strengthen control in areas of high tourist influx. Between May and September, devices aimed at citizen protection, traffic regulation and the fight against illegal activities have been implemented, achieving important results in each area. Traffic control and road safety have generated 4,703 complaints, with almost 7,000 vehicles controlled by the agents. In addition, 270 complaints were filed for violations of the Law for the Protection of Public Safety. In parallel, 72 people have been brought to court for sale of nitrous oxide, with 15 restraining orders and one imprisonment. Neus Mateu, Councilor for Citizen Security, has highlighted the progress made in the fight against nitrous oxide, highlighting the joint work with the Prosecutor’s Office and the Civil Guard. “We have achieved important seizures, thanks to the cage devices designed to eradicate this sale on public roads,” she said. For his part, Alejandro Ponce, head of the police force, said that the results achieved reflect the success of the plan. “Sant Antoni is now a safer destination for tourists and residents, thanks to the reinforcement in the busiest areas and the exhaustive control of municipal ordinances,” said Ponce.
Control of establishments and fight against intrusiveness
As part of the operation, the City Council has decreed the sealing of six musical equipment for violations of the Law of Activities, in addition to 21 complaints for noise, 13 for failure to comply with closing hours and 8 for lack of licenses. The fight against intrusion in transport has led to the detection of 12 pirate cabs, in collaboration with the Civil Guard and the Consell De Ibiza. In the same line, 71 complaints have been filed for illegal street vending and 41 for unauthorized camping in public areas.
Environment and traffic safety
A highlight was the removal of 152 abandoned vehicles by the Environmental Unit. Likewise, the Attestations Unit has registered 53 attestations for crimes against traffic safety, reinforcing surveillance on the roads of the municipality. This summer security plan marks a milestone in the police management of Sant Antoni, consolidating security and coexistence between tourists and residents, with a view to maintaining the municipality as a safe and attractive environment for all.
