This Saturday will be held in Santa Eulària des Riu the Tanit Ibiza Congress & Awards 2024, an event dedicated to highlight female leadership and social impact in Ibiza, promoted by Eva Ballarín and Alicia Reina and sponsored by the Consell de Ibiza and the Ajuntament de Santa Eulària des Riu. The president of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, will participate in a round table and will receive the Tanit Spirit award in recognition of her commitment to the economic development of the Balearic Islands. The event will begin at 5:00 pm at the Cultural Center of Jesus, with the inauguration by the Councilor for Children, Equality and Elderly of Ibiza, Sara Barbado, and the promoters of the congress, Ballarín and Reina. Later, Prohens will participate in the talk “Talking with our president”, moderated by Ballarín and Reina, where she will address issues of relevance to the Balearic community. At 7:30 p.m. the gala of the III Tanit Ibiza Awards will begin, which will reward influential women such as Stella González, Fanny Tur, Sara Marí, Estella Matutes Juan, Esther Matutes, Teresa Bermejo, Mari Àngels Marí and a surprise winner, whose identity will be revealed during the ceremony. In this edition, the role of women of diverse backgrounds who have contributed significantly to the Ibizan community is recognized. In addition, along with Prohens, chef Samanta Vallejo-Nágera and journalist Marta Robles will also receive the Tanit Spirit Award. Both will participate in the round table “Sopa de Letras”, which will include a reflection on the role of women in culture and gastronomy.
The councilor of Social Welfare, Carolina Escandell, will close the congress with a speech dedicated to the achievements and challenges in the social field. The event is consolidated after the success of its previous editions, which have stood out for promoting the culture of sorority and female empowerment in the Balearic Islands. The mayor of Santa Eulària, Carmen Ferrer, praised the congress as a crucial space to make visible the talent and female leadership on the island and bring maritime culture to the youngest through initiatives such as the ‘Setmana Blava’.
Stella González Tuells will receive the Tanit Gastrónoma 2024 “for her commitment to sustainable agriculture and her work at the Can Rich winery, where she has transformed the richness of the land of Ibiza into wines that capture its essence,” explained the organizers during the presentation ceremony. The ex-politician, activist and head of the Ibiza Town Hall Archive, Fanny Tur Riera, will be awarded the Tanit Educator 2024 for her “dedication to preserving the historical memory of Ibiza and Formentera, ensuring that future generations understand and value the rich cultural heritage of these islands”. Sara Marí Washbourne, who “has demonstrated how business leadership can go hand in hand with the preservation of Ibiza’s values and traditions,” will be awarded the Tanit Hotelera 2024 for her outstanding management of the Alonso Marí Group of Companies.
One of Abel Matutes Juan’s sisters, Estella Matutes Juan, will be recognized with the Tanit Pioneer 2024 for her pioneering work in oncology research, which “has brought the name of Ibiza to the forefront of global medical science”. For her part, Esther Matutes Mestre will be distinguished with the Tanit Communicator 2024 for her “key role in faithfully representing the culture and values of the Pitiusas through her work as a delegate of IB3 TV”. The designer Teresa Bermejo Poyan will receive the Tanit Creativa 2024 for “bringing Ibizan fashion to a global audience, fusing tradition and modernity, and positioning Ibiza as a creative reference”.
Maria Angels Marí Puig, general secretary of PIMEEF and businesswoman in the sector of professional offices, will be awarded the Tanit Entrepreneur 2024 for her “crucial contribution to strengthening the business fabric of Ibiza and Formentera, promoting digitization and sustainability at the local level”. The surprise of the afternoon will come with the winner of the Tanit Solidaria 2024, which will be unveiled at the end of the awards ceremony.
