The disappearance of Jesús Saura Ortiz, a 58-year-old resident of Ibiza, has come to an end after being located in O Porriño (Pontevedra), where some neighbors recognized him thanks to the alert issued by SOS Desaparecidos. The man had started the Camino de Santiago in Oporto a few days earlier, but lost contact with his group, which triggered an intense search that ended with his discovery. According to the first information, Saura started the Camino together with a group of people and a parish priest from Ibiza, but was delayed by opting for a slower pace. This situation was compounded by a robbery, in which he lost all his belongings, complicating his ability to communicate with his companions and family. Since last Tuesday, when he was last seen in Oporto, his trail had vanished. The neighbors of O Porriño found him wandering along a street in the municipality and decided to accompany him to the local police station, where identification protocols were activated. After verifying that it was the missing person, the authorities contacted his family. Saura’s son, who had traveled to Oporto to collaborate in the search, immediately went to O Porriño to meet him again.
A positive ending after days of uncertainty
The case kept both relatives and search organizations on alert. Citizen collaboration and rapid police action have been key to resolving this disappearance without major incidents. Although Saura was unable to complete the Camino as planned, his reunion with his family brings a happy ending to a situation full of uncertainty.
