This Monday, October 28, Ibiza and Formentera will be under the effects of a DANA that threatens to leave showers and wind gusts of varying intensity. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), this situation is part of a broader weather episode, which will intensify on Tuesday 29 with the possible evolution of the DANA to a cold squall. Although the bulk of the heaviest rains are expected in the Valencian Community and Murcia, the Pitiusas could experience locally heavy showers and easterly winds that will increase throughout the day. From the afternoon onwards, weather conditions will progressively worsen, especially in the areas most exposed to the wind and humidity from the Mediterranean.
Outlook for the rest of the week
Tuesday 29 will be the most complicated day, with forecasts of strong wind and rain that could affect the islands more directly, although the greatest intensity will be concentrated in the east of the peninsula. The Aemet warns that, although Ibiza and Formentera will not be the main focus of the phenomenon, adverse episodes that affect mobility and outdoor activities on these islands are not ruled out.
Uncertainty and duration of the episode
The bad weather could last throughout the week, with episodes of rain and wind that would continue until Thursday 31 or even until Saturday, November 2, according to current models. The Aemet has warned that, given the complexity of the phenomenon, the forecasts could change in the coming days, so it recommends staying informed and taking extreme precautions. With this weather situation, the authorities recommend residents and visitors to Ibiza and Formentera to be alert to new warnings and avoid unnecessary travel during the hours of greatest instability.
