The City Council of Sant Josep has initially approved its new Local Forest Fire Emergency Plan, a protection strategy that seeks to prepare the municipality to respond effectively to possible fires in wooded and urban areas. This plan establishes the structure and protocols necessary to deal with emergency situations and avoid, as far as possible, the risk in urban-forest interface areas. Among the main actions foreseen, the plan includes the creation of perimeter safety strips in built-up areas, the installation of strategic axes on access roads, and the delimitation of defense areas in buildings and critical infrastructures. In addition, training and awareness-raising measures are planned for the public, so that they are aware of the risks and the guidelines for self-protection in the event of fire. To improve fire response, the plan also proposes the organization of local intervention teams in which volunteer personnel can participate, as well as the coordination of local resources with regional and national entities. This project has a planned duration of 10 years and an allocated budget of 1,519,550 euros.
Waste contract
At the same session, the plenary also gave the green light to the price review of the contract for the management of the public lighting service and approved the initiation of a file for the extension of the contract for waste collection, street cleaning and posidonia management services. The current waste services contract, which ends in April 2025, contemplates biennial extensions, thus allowing the service to be maintained without the need for new investments, except in maintenance, the cost of which must not exceed an increase of 10%. The October plenary session included a moment of respect and solidarity with the victims of the recent DANA that affected Valencia and Albacete, with a minute’s silence in honor of the deceased and their families.
