The State Agency of Meteorology (Aemet) has launched this Thursday a “very clear” message:“The DANA continues over Spain. Very intense storms are occurring, yesterday in Andalusia, today in Castellón. We will continue like this for most of the week”. Aemet has moved this message through his Twitter account to urge caution: “Not only is it raining on wet, but many resources are focused on the emergency in Valencia. Act with common sense and following indications of ‘112’, Government Delegation and Firefighters”. And he has asked the population to stay informed: “Do not be confident. Do not have a false sense of security in coastal areas where it does not rain”. In this regard, he has clarified that many victims in the province of Valencia have occurred in areas where it did not rain washed away by the flood. “The flooding of a ravine occurs very quickly,” he added.
What will happen in Ibiza and Formentera with the DANA?
The Emergency Service 112 of the Balearic Islands has activated this Thursday the yellow alert for rain and storms in Ibiza and Formentera. As reported in their social networks, the Severity Index 0 of the Meteobal Plan has been activated. This is activated when the meteorological information allows to foresee the imminence of an adverse meteorological phenomenon with danger for people and goods and corresponds to minor local adverse phenomena that can be controlled by means of a rapid local response without producing damages.
What will happen in the Balearic Islands
For its part, the Emergency Service 112 has activated the Severity Index 1 (IG1) of the Meteobal Plan for rains and storms in Mallorca and Menorca.
As reported in the social network X, this Friday is expected to be a “complicated day” with rainfall that can reach 50 liters per square meter, so it has called for caution to the population. The IG1 is activated when the meteorological information allows to foresee the imminence of an adverse phenomenon with high probability of risk to people and property and is declared in that situation in which an adverse phenomenon may occur in localized areas, the attention of which can be ensured with the means and resources available in the affected areas but with supramunicipal monitoring. This level of alert contemplates a pre-alert of mobilization of means.
