Increase in arrivals to the Balearic Islands
With this boat, the total number of immigrants who have arrived this Tuesday to the Balearic Islands amounts to 56 people, distributed in four boats. One of the boats arrived at Son Bieló, in Sa Ràpita (Mallorca), while the other three were located in the waters of Formentera. These arrivals are in addition to those recorded on Monday, when a total of 129 immigrants reached the Balearic coasts in various boats, reflecting a steady increase in the number of boats arriving in the islands. The rescue in Formentera was carried out by Salvamento Marítimo, in coordination with local authorities, as part of ongoing efforts to deal with arrivals of migrants to the coasts of the archipelago. The authorities have reiterated the importance of these interventions to ensure the safety of those who venture out to sea in precarious conditions.
