A total of 34 schools and institutes of Ibiza and three centers of Formentera have been awarded for their projects on environmental education and sustainable development within theEco-environmental Centers Program 2023-2024 The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, together with the Ministry of Education and Universities, has delivered the awards and certificates of participation in the program, as reported by the Govern. Of these centers, ten have received the award that certifies having achieved the environmental objectives set by the program throughout the course and the remaining 27 have been recognized for their commitment to sustainability and their participation in the 21st edition of this initiative. Once again, the main objective of the program is to promote environmental education in the life of the schools of the Balearic Islands.
The proposal involves supporting schools to design work plans related to the conservation and protection of nature and sustainability and to integrate them into their own curricula and study plans.
The main thematic axes established for this course have been biodiversity, energy, climate change, waste and water. The centers have also developed other secondary themes such as responsible consumption and those related to mobility. On November 11 the awards were presented to the schools in Mallorca and on November 14 they were presented to the schools in Menorca. In total, 147 schools from all the Balearic Islands participated in this year’s edition: 94 from Mallorca, 34 from Ibiza, three from Formentera and 16 from Menorca.
