Sant Antoni welcomes Christmas this Friday, November 29 with the traditional lighting of lights and the Christmas tree in the emblematic Passeig de ses Fonts. The event, which starts at 6:30 pm, will include shows for the little ones as Sant Antoni per Nadal, with the elves Mirtel and Triste, accompanied by the dance studio Adrián Pineda, followed by a carol recital by the schools of the municipality and the expected concert of Villanrock, which will reinterpret Christmas classics with touches of rock’n’roll, swing and reggae from 9:00 pm. The mayor of Sant Antoni, Marcos Serra, stressed during the presentation of the program that the Mercat de Nadal, which also opens this Friday, has become a benchmark of the island during the holidays. With more than 20 booths dedicated to catering, crafts and local commerce, the market promises to be an economic engine and a meeting point for neighbors and visitors. “The Mercat de Nadal encourages the influx of people and boosts trade and catering, becoming one of the great attractions of our festivities,” said Serra, who invited the whole island to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere of the municipality.
Activities for young and old
The councilman of Fiestas, Miguel Tur, explained that the program, with more than 40 activities, is designed especially for children, but also has proposals for all ages. Among the novelties of this year highlights the interactive theater show ‘Vincles’, which will take place in the Far de ses Coves Blanques, and the presence of artists such as Carlos Baute, who will perform on December 14. In addition, Santa Claus’ Little House will open its doors on Saturday November 30 with the visit of the iconic character, who will return on December 24 to collect letters from children. On the other hand, the Fireta de Nadal will offer a magical space with decorations, games, a merry-go-round and the Piruleto train, which will travel through the streets of the town with music, snow and fun.
Music, solidarity and tradition
The program includes concerts by local and national artists, such as the performance of Nereida, finalist of La Voz, and the show Eivissa Daurada by candlelight, which will pay tribute to the music of Harry Potter on December 27. Also, solidarity events will have a prominent place with initiatives such as the Solidarity Motorcycle Papanoelada, organized by the Pitiús Team Motoclub Eivissa, which invites bikers to bring food or toys for the needy, and the festival ‘Pel somriure d’un nen’, to be held on December 15.
Christmas traditions and festive closing
The program includes classic events such as the Municipal Nativity Scene, which will be inaugurated on December 14, and the expected Three Kings Parade, which will run through the streets of Sant Antoni on January 5 at 18:30. To say goodbye to the year, there will be a children’s party with bells at 12:30 pm and a special countdown with Tokyo time from 14:00 pm.
