The Civil Guard has located this Thursday 31 immigrants who have arrived in two boats to Formentera. If the three boats detected in Mallorca are added, the figure rises to 71 people so far on Thursday. As reported by the Government Delegation in the islands, the first of the boats, with 19 occupants of sub-Saharan origin, has been intercepted at midnight on the coastline of Cala Marçal, in the Majorcan town of Portocolom, where civil guards have intervened Felanitx, Santanyi and the Tax and Border Patrols. Half an hour later, 13 people, nine of them of North African origin and four sub-Saharan, have been located in another boat in the area of s’Estanyol, south of Mallorca. At 4:37 a.m., the Guardia Civil of Formentera intercepted 12 immigrants in the area of La Mola. Almost at 8.00 a.m., in Es Ram, also on the island of Formentera, 19 Maghrebi immigrants in apparent good health have been located. Around 8.30 am, another 8 people of the same origin arrived in a skiff have been intercepted in Cala Gran, in the Mallorcan municipality of Santanyí. During Wednesday were rescued and intercepted in the Balearic Islands a total of six boats with 128 people on board. So far this year at least 5,126 immigrants have reached the Balearic archipelago aboard 305 boats, according to EFE’s count. Last year 128 boats reached the islands, with a total of 2,278 people.
