La SD Ibiza has suffered a setback in its path through the Second RFEF after losing 4-2 against Torrent CF at the San Gregorio stadium. In a match that promised to be disputed, the Ibizan team failed to overcome the constant blows of an opponent that was effective at key moments.
An uphill start
The match started in the worst way for the Ibizan team. Just in the 3rd minute, Cristian Cruz committed a penalty that Torrent did not miss to take the lead on the scoreboard. Despite this adverse start, SD Ibiza responded quickly, showing character and offensive attitude. In the 17th minute, Xesc Navalon equalized the score with a powerful shot after an excellent assist from Juanca, restoring hope to the visitors. The rest of the first half was a game of shared dominance and multiple chances for both teams, but without effectiveness to break the tie.
Goals that made the difference
At the restart, history repeated itself with an early goal from Torrent in the 47th minute, which again complicated the panorama for SD Ibiza. The reaction was not long in coming, and Juanca managed to score from a set piece, but the goal was disallowed for offside. This setback seemed to affect the Ibizan team, who shortly after conceded a third goal, making their chances of a comeback even more difficult. In the 83rd minute, Torrent sentenced the game with the fourth goal, leaving the scoreboard in a resounding 4-1. However, in the final minutes, Bengoechea managed to reduce the difference with a goal of great quality in the 89th minute, making up the final result.
Next challenge
With this defeat, SD Ibiza has broken a positive streak and will have to rethink its strategy for the next match against Espanyol B, which will be played on Sunday, December 8 at 12:00 pm.
